     What a wonderful way to start out a new school year, we are up 15 students, in grades K-8, from the end of last year.  The students and their parents are to be commended on their behavior and appearance this first week of school.

     Our “Meet the Teacher” afternoon was a success with many families attending, bringing in school supplies, eating ice cream and meeting their teacher. Thank you to Antoinette Huels, Debby Shafferkoetter, Shelly Jensen and all of the Kindergarten parents who volunteered to help with the ice cream social.

     We would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new students and their families to Immaculate Conception School. We have several new families.  Please make an effort to get to know these families this year.

VOLUNTEERS:

     If you would like to volunteer at school this year in anyway, you must be in compliance with the Safe Environment Program.  In doing so, you must attend a one-time workshop named “Protecting God’s Children”. There will be a seminar held here at I.C., for your convenience, on September 10, 2009 at 6:45pm. You must also read the Code of Ethics handbook and sign the signature page and return it to the school office. You must have a background check and we also need a copy of your Social Security Card. These forms are available in the school office. Or you may pick them up at the seminar in September. Our annual Volunteer Meeting will be held on Friday, August 28 at 8:00am in our school cafeteria. Please attend this short meeting if possible.

FALL FESTIVAL NEWS:

   Our Annual Fall Festival, one of our most important fundraisers, will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2009. Plans are underway! We have two new chairmen for next year; Tina Richardson and Ed Strubberg! Many thanks to these two for volunteering their time and great amount of effort that it takes to make the festival a success. Also, many thanks to Christa Kozemski and Allen Eaker who are our chairmen this year and trainers for the upcoming chairmen. We look forward to this year’s festival.

FALL FESTIVAL MEETING:

The planning meeting for this year’s festival will be held on Monday, August 31st at 7:00pm in the school cafeteria. Anyone who is interested in helping with the festival is encouraged to attend. Remember that each school family is required to volunteer 15 hours of service each school year. This would be a good way for you to accomplish this request. Please see this week’s Friday folder for Apple Butter sign up sheets. Also, at this time raffle tickets are supposed to be available for distribution on Friday morning. Please check backpacks for these tickets. If tickets were not sent home, they will be sent next week for sure. Please be selling these raffle tickets for a successful festival.

FOUND:   The office found three book covers that were in with copy paper that was sent to the office. If anyone is short three covers, please come claim them.
